Mississauga-Brampton South MPP Petitions Legislative Assembly to Create a University in Brampton

                        July 25th 2014

On July 17th MPP Amrit Mangat rose in the Legislature calling on the province to encourage the development or expansion of a graduate and research-intensive institution inBrampton.

 MPP Mangat stated “I have a petition which has been signed by several thousand members of my community, and it reads as follows:

"Whereas the city of Brampton held the highest rate of population growth among Canada's 20 largest cities in 2011;

"Whereas the creation of university campuses in an underserved area like the city of Brampton gives more students a full range of high-quality education in their community;

"We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:

"That the government of Ontario create Sheridan University and as well encourage the development or expansion of a graduate and research-intensive institution into Brampton."
