Ontario has opened a new carpool lot next to the Courtneypark Drive/Highway 410 interchange in Mississauga to encourage carpooling and make commuting more convenient.
The new carpool lot has 275 parking spaces and is fully illuminated. It will provide a safe and convenient meeting point for commuters travelling to and from Mississauga. Carpooling helps improve traffic flow, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and allows drivers to take advantage of Ontario’s expanding HOV network.
This work is part of the Highway 410 widening project, which expanded the highway from Highway 401 to Queen Street in Brampton from 8 to 10 lanes in November 2017, with another two lanes on track to be completed in Fall 2018.
Ontario is making the largest infrastructure investment in hospitals, schools, public transit, roads and bridges in the province's history. To learn more about what's happening in your community, go to Ontario.ca/BuildON.
Making carpooling more convenient for commuters is part of Ontario's plan to support care, create opportunity and make life more affordable during this period of rapid economic change includes a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, easier access to affordable child care, and free prescription drugs for everyone under 25, and 65 or over, through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation.
“The opening of the new carpool lot at Courtneypark Drive and the Highway 410 interchange in Mississauga will reduce traffic congestion, lower our carbon footprint and help the community get to work. Our government is working hard to continue Ontario’s economic growth and making sure people have safe and reliable travel options.”
