(Mississauga, ON) On June 25th, MPP Amrit Mangat once again gathered with constituents of Mississauga—Brampton South at her annual Information Fair and BBQ event. An opportunity for her to gather informally with Mississaugans and Bramptonians, it also introduces her constituents to many of the helpful organizations at work in the community, while enjoying food and entertainment.

Sunshine and summer temperatures greeted hundreds at Sandalwood Park. In addition to mingling with neighbours and soon-to-be friends, constituents were entertained by traditional Chinese music and dance, a live DJ and face-painting. Over a dozen organizations attended to share information about their invaluable service to one of Ontario’s most diverse ridings.

MPP Mangat shared news of her work at Queen’s Park, where she helped to pass fourteen pieces of legislation this session that ranged in focus from job creation, healthcare investment, environmental protection and her own bill to honour Hazel McCallion and encourage young women to engage in public life.

“The success of these events show how appreciated they are by the community,” said MPP Mangat. “It helps to bring people closer, to improve our sense of community, and to ensure that we’re aware of the great work being done by our neighbours and community organizations to support each other.”

This year, the following organizations participated:

  • Academy for Mathematics and English
  • Breast Cancer Society
  • Citizens for the Advancement of Community Development
  • HEAL Network
  • Kidney Foundation of Canada
  • Mental Health Services for Children and Youth
  • Ministry of Government and Consumers Services
